Can A Lightsaber Be Made

Star Wars Fans Create A Real Lightsaber That Can Cut Through Anything

Ever wanted to know that a real lightsaber would look like? Well, some Star Wars fans decided to figure it out, and the result is pretty impressive.

Inventive Star Wars fans have created a real-life lightsaber that can actually cut through anything -anything. When it first began in 1977,Star Warswas a simple sci-fi franchise that introduced a brand new world and a slew of characters fans quickly fell in love with. Over the years, though, it has grown into one of the biggest properties of all time. The original trilogy and the prequel films seemingly told the whole story, but when Disney revivedStar Wars in 2015 withThe Force Awakens, the franchise reached new heights in terms of its presence within the pop culture sphere.

Regardless of how one feels about various parts ofStar Wars lore, it's probably safe to say that some of the best things to emerge from the galaxy far, far away are lightsabers. Since their first appearance in the originalStar Wars, fans have been enamored with the colorful blades and the battles they're wielded in. Whether it's Luke Skywalker facing his father Darth Vader inThe Empire Strikes Back or Rey and Kylo Ren teaming up inThe Last Jedi, the lightsaber battles are frequently the highlights ofStar Wars movies.

Fans can own their own lightsaber with just a simple visit to the local toy store, but those at the Hacksmith took things a step further: They created their very own real-life lightsaber. This talented team of engineers used science and various real world supplies to create a plasma lightsaber. Perhaps even more exciting? It has the standard retractable blade. Their first video details the making-of process, while the second demonstrates how it works. Fans will be delighted to see certain scenarios from theStar Wars movies come to life as they test their lightsaber's ability to cut through a plethora of materials. Check them out below.

Major franchises collide in the second video, which sees the Hacksmith take the lightsaber to Captain America's iconic shield. For those who have wondered what weapon would win, this experiment gives them an answer: The lightsaber. Of course, this doesn't take into account how the lightsaber would hold up against vibranium, but that will sadly have to be left to the imagination.

Nevertheless, this is a fascinating experiment thatStar Wars fans will surely love seeing come to life. While this process isn't easily replicated, it's still incredible to see that it is in fact possible.Star Wars aficionados might not be able to fly in an X-wing or meet a Wookie, but they can rest assured that lightsabers are, in this case, real. Besides, who knows what will be possible in the future? Perhaps there will be more ways for Star Wars to become a reality.
